Biography

Giovanni’s research explores how environmental change – planetary yet uneven, entangled with contemporary 'crises' and historical legacies – is generating new spaces, modes of governance, subjectivities and forms of resistance. Working at the intersection of political geography, environmental humanities and political theory, he has published extensively on climate mobilities and examined how 'smart' interventions are reshaping climate governance – in both fields problematising dominant framings and foregrounding questions of justice, historical responsibility and emancipatory future visions. His current work engages the political and subjective dimensions of planetary change, including a critical scrutiny of right-wing responses to climate change and discourses on climate anxiety.
