Coal mines and thermal power plants are generators of large number of direct and related jobs, they significantly participate in the state and local budgets, as well as in the financing of local sports, cultural and other social activities. However, these big pollutants pose a special threat not only to citizens living in their immediate vicinity.

Biography

Dr Miloš Milenković is Full Professor in the Department of Ethnology and Anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, where he has held positions of increasing seniority since 1998. He received his diploma and PhD in Ethnology and Anthropology from the University of Belgrade in 1998 and 2006 respectively, and also holds a master's degree in Cultural and Gender Studies. His research spans the history, theory, and methodology of anthropology, the anthropology of science and education, multiculturalism and identity politics, intangible cultural heritage protection, and public policy in the research and higher education sectors. He is the author of seven books and numerous journal articles and book chapters, and has directed a wide range of research projects funded by Serbian national bodies and international donors including the Open Society Institute, OSCE, and the European Commission. He is founding head of the Centre for Anthropology of Science and Education at the Faculty of Philosophy, founding editor of the monograph series Issues in Ethnology and Anthropology, and Serbia's representative to the World Council of Anthropological Associations. He has served as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Philosophy and is a member of the Council for Humanities at the Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.
