Higher Education (HE) students’ Perceptions of their learning experience during COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented situation which has impacted the educational experience of students of all ages, both in the UK and globally. This small-scale initial research aims to access HE students’ experience of learning through them sharing their perceptions.

Biography

Dr Carmel Capewell is a Senior Lecturer in Early Years and Special Education at Oxford Brookes University. Their doctoral research examined the lived experience of glue ear (otitis media), centring the voices of mothers and young people, and led to a sustained interest in visual and participatory research methods, including an adapted Photovoice methodology. Their broader research focuses on developing innovative approaches to encourage young people to express and share their perspectives, with additional projects spanning hearing loss and auditory processing, students' experiences of learning, and the emotional impact of breast cancer diagnosis on women. They are a convenor of the British Educational Research Association (BERA) Special Interest Group on Research Methodologies in Education.
