The world stands at what UN Secretary-General António Guterres calls a “pivotal juncture.” In 2025, military spending reached a world-historic high, while only one in five of the UN Sustainable Development Goals will be reached by 2030. The arms trade is the crucial link connecting state spending, corporate weapons production, and the wars, violence, and inequality that follow, driving death, displacement and disease.

Biography
Anna is a professor of International Relations at the University of Sussex, UK, where she researches and teaches on the global arms trade, militarism and global (in)securities. She joined the department in 2006, having completed her PhD at the University of Bristol. Anna works closely with activists, campaigners, journalists, lawyers, NGOs and parliamentarians and is also Director of Research and Strategy at Shadow World Investigations, a non-profit that exposes and seeks accountability for corruption, particularly in the arms trade.
